loads of free music!!!

if you allow the warner group uk to have your email address (which can probably be a fake one, but don't tell them i told you that), you can download free tracks from the likes of switches, garbage, wilco, ash, battle, fields, jill cunniff (ex-luscious jackson singer), rifles and other indie bands!

i have no idea how much longer these tracks will be online, so act quickly and enjoy!

as a teaser, download "no love lost" from the rifles by clicking here.

fantastic scary shit: iron maiden in costa rica!

well, it's already being confirmed by iron maiden themselves: after playing in mexico, they will fly down to costa rica for what is expected to be a fantastic concert at the ricardo saprissa stadium. they will play mostly their 80s hits, which will definitely guarantee a good mix of old and young fans.

this is a band one has to go to the airport and wait for the plane to land, not only because the plane will have iron maiden painted on the side and eddie in the tail, but also because iron maiden's singer, bruce dickinson will be the pilot! need i say more?

remember, the date is february 26, 2008.

for those who have 10 quid to spare, join the fan club now and hope to get vip treatment for the concert.

anton corbijn interviewed

although there are many movies being played in this country at the moment, there is one that i would love to see that might not come (legally) to costa rica: control. for the ones following this blog regularly, i've written or let people know about this film in previous posts. from friends that have already seen it in the uk, it's a fantastic film. the film, as anton puts it, is not about joy division, it's about ian curtis who happened to be the singer of joy division.

now, paste magazine offers an interview with control's director, anton corbijn. for those who know me personally, you already know that i love anton's work as a photographer, so this is basically it: a fantastic photographer directing a fantastic film.

read the whole interview here.

rock hudson: you could be me

trent goes hip hop for free!

the inevitable rise and liberation of niggytardust!, a new saul williams album produced by trent reznor and mixed by alan moulder (of curve, smashing pumpkins and blonde redhead fame) will be released on november 1st, 2007. according to saul's site, the wall of sound that they've created is tagged with such graffiti that a passerby would seek outdoors and ways to enter. once inside a world defined by dreams come true they'd find aligned with the simplest act of sharing what we treasure. ok...

anyway, the album is $5 if you decide to pay for it, $0 if you have no idea how good it is and want it for free. my advice is for you to go to saul's myspace site, listen to the songs and decide if the whole album at 192 kbps, drm-free is really worth it. i'm going for the $0 option just because i'm not entirely into this kind of music, but i'm willing to give it a chance. if i like it, i'd ask for a way to donate $1 to the cause.
